Comfortable Aligners

Clear aligners feature smooth, clear acrylic that doesn't irritate your tongue, cheeks and lips like braces, making them more comfortable to wear than traditional braces.

Discreet Treatment

Unlike metal braces, clear aligners blend so well with the natural look of your teeth that people may not even realize you're wearing them!

Straightening
power

Clear aligners provide the straightening power of braces without the metallic look. The aligner trays use gentle pressure to move your teeth into place, giving you the smile you want!

Certified 3m Clarity & Invisalign Provider

Dr. Shoe is certified to provide 3M Clarity clear aligners and Invisalign. Clear aligner systems include precise measurements to determine the best ways to move your teeth quickly and efficiently with the custom trays designed for your teeth. You will get a professional treatment plan that far exceeds anything you would get at home.

Clear aligners are a great option for most situations, but it doesn’t work for all patients. We offer a free initial consultation, where we can determine whether clear aligners are right for you!

Why Choose Clear Aligners?

Clear aligners offer the power of braces with a more discreet look and more comfortable feel. Clear aligner trays are custom-molded to your teeth, so they fit comfortably. Their smooth texture means you don't have the irritation to your cheeks and tongue that you can have with braces.

Whether you're using Invisalign or 3m Clarity Aligners they both use gentle pressure to move your teeth quickly and efficiently. Most patients spend less time in clear aligners than in braces. You'll have a beautiful new smile quickly and efficiently, and the clear look means you can show off your smile throughout your treatment!

Common Questions About Clear Aligners

Have questions? We're here to help!

You may feel a little discomfort for a few days when you first get your clear aligners and your teeth start to move. That should fade within a week, and your mouth will feel more normal. You may also have some discomfort when you switch to the next set of aligners and your teeth move more. That should only last a day or two. Otherwise, you probably will forget you're even wearing them most of the time!

3M Clarity aligners use gentle pressure to move your teeth to their correct positions. The success of your treatment depends on you wearing your clear aligners for at least 22 hours a day. After a couple of weeks, you will switch to the next set of clear aligners, which will move your teeth further. You will continue to switch sets in order until your treatment is complete.

Treatment times vary depending on the number of issues we are treating as well as the severity. Some treatment times can be as little as six months, but on average, most patients wear clear aligners 9-15 months.

We recommend that you do not smoke while wearing your clear aligners. While our clear aligners are designed to be stain-resistant, tobacco smoke can discolor them over time. Also, the clear aligners can trap the smoke against your teeth, which will discolor your teeth and could increase your chances of tooth decay and gum disease. That's why we recommend that you do not smoke during clear aligner treatment.

You may have a bit of a lisp or slur when you first get your clear aligners because your tongue has to get used to hitting the clear aligner instead of your teeth. That should clear up fairly quickly as your mouth gets used to the clear aligners.

Most patients can get clear aligners. However, clear aligners may not be right for the most severe cases. We will determine whether clear aligners are right for you during your free, no-obligation evaluation when you first visit us. Visit our Hanover, PA, or Reisterstown, MD, office to find out more!
